Physicians, parents and vaccine makers appeared late last month before a House panel to discuss newly-proposed vaccine injury compensation legislation long-sought legislation aimed at averting a possible crisis in the nation's immunization program. The new proposal is H.R. 5184, the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, which was introduced by Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.). Two other major bills concerning vaccine injury compensation, S. 827 and H.R. 1780, were introduced earlier.
