New brochure addresses impact of television

As television continues to become a growing influence on child development, the Academy has issued a new brochure, Television and the Family.

Citing television as "probably the most important influence on child development in our society," the brochure gives important facts and advice regarding the impact of television on children and adolescents.

The new brochure lists and explains the potential dangers of excessive television watching: poor academic performance, obesity, precocious sexuality, violent or aggressive behavior, and the use of drugs or alcohol.
