Pediatricians need to work harder as advocates for adolescents, White House adviser Donald Ian Macdonald, M.D., FAAP, said in his keynote address during the AAP Annual Meeting in New Orleans. "Let's do what we've done for infants and children," he said. "Let's speak up for adolescents." Dr. Macdonald is a special assistant to President Reagan and director of the White House Drug Abuse Policy Office. He also serves as administrator of the Alcohol, Drug Abuse and Mental Health Administration.
