Myth number one: cosmetics cause teenage acne. Myth number two: cosmetics plug pores. John Reeves, M.D., said there are numerous misconceptions about adolescent cosmetic use and skin problems. Dr. Reeves discussed the subject during a seminar at the 1987 AAP Spring Session. "Most kids have no trouble with cosmetics at all," he said, explaining that even after months of cosmetic application, a very small percentage of adolescents actually develop acne from cosmetic use.
