Blood product may have been contaminated

Officials at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) are notifying the public about the limited risk of having received contaminated blood products from transfusions there between January 1997 and May 1985.

The hospital has scheduled a Jan. 29 news briefing to spread the word.

In addition, the hospital is installing a transfusion information telephone line designed to help determine whether a child received a transfusion at CHLA before June 1985.
