Bask in sunshine while earning CME at Practical Pediatrics
As cool fall temperatures settle in, plan to join colleagues in sunny
Southern California at "Practical Pediatrics," Oct. 4-6, at the
Westin Long Beach in Long Beach.
Designed for pediatricians, family physicians and allied health
professionals caring for children, Practical Pediatrics highlights current
issues in pediatrics. Each course combines lectures, interactive seminars and
question-and-answer sessions to allow you the opportunity to interact directly
with faculty in solving the problems you encounter in daily practice.
Participants can update their knowledge of clinical issues by reviewing hot
topics and recent practical advances for the office and increase their ability
to diagnose and manage patients by analyzing and discussing cases with faculty
and peers.
Topics and faculty include:
- School and Learning Difficulties: The Role of the Pediatrician and
Solution-oriented Behavioral Pediatrics, with William Lord Coleman,
M.D., FAAP, FSAM, professor of pediatrics at University of North Carolina
School of Medicine, Chapel Hill;
- "My Head Hurts": Evaluation and Management of the Child
with Headache and An Approach to the Child with Developmental
Delays, with Robert C. Pedersen, M.D., FAAP, associate clinical professor
of pediatrics at University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine,
Honolulu;
- The Fungus Among Us: A Pediatrician's Guide to Fungal Skin
Infections and Name that Rash, with Miriam Weinstein, B.Sc.,
B.Sc.N., M.D., FRCPC, assistant professor of pediatrics and medicine at
University of Toronto, Canada;
- Respiratory Consequences of Dysfunctional Swallowing and
Gastroesophageal Reflux, with Gerald M. Loughlin, M.D., M.S., FAAP,
professor and chairman of the Weill Medical College of Cornell University's
Department of Pediatrics, New York;
- Obesity in Children and Adolescents: An Expanding Problem and
Evaluation and Management of the Child with Small Stature with Robert
P. Schwartz, M.D., FAAP, professor of pediatrics at Wake Forest University
School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C.; and
- Strabismus and Amblyopia and Eye Examinations in Children
with Steven J. Lichtenstein, M.D., FACS, FAAO, FAAP, visiting associate
clinical professor of surgery and pediatrics at University of Illinois College
of Medicine at Peoria and Chicago.
Course director is Rickey L. Williams, M.D., M.P.H., FAAP, clinical
professor of pediatrics at University of Arizona Health Sciences Center,
Tucson.
Course participants can earn a maximum of 16.5 AMA PRA Category 1
