Glucose meter test strips recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced recalls of the following products. Consumers should stop using recalled products unless otherwise instructed. For a complete list of recalled products, visit www.cpsc.gov.

Bayer Diabetes Care is recalling test strips (sensors) used with the Contour TS Blood Glucose Meter because test strips from specific lots could result in inaccurate blood glucose readings that are 5%-17% higher. This issue is unrelated to the Contour TS meter itself.

Health care professionals, retailers, patients and other customers who use Contour TS should check the lot number of the test strips in their inventory and contact Bayer Diabetes Care for information regarding the return and replacement of strips.

For a list of product lot numbers that are being recalled, visit www.fda.gov/medwatch/safety/2007/safety07.htm#diabetes.
