Hot Topics, intensive review at PREP The Course, Portland

Stroll the waterfront or hit the Oregon Trail while brushing up on continuing medical education offerings at PREP The Course Sept. 12-16 at the Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront.

Designed as an intensive review of general pediatrics, PREP The Course provides information on diagnosis and management of pediatric problems encountered daily in practice. It also helps in preparing for the American Board of Pediatrics’ Maintenance of Certification examination.

Also featured are Hot Topics in content areas such as:

  • Swine Flu (infectious disease), with Evan Anderson, M.D., assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago;
  • The Orphans We Produce (developmental/behavioral), with Doris Greenberg, M.D., FAAP, associate clinical professor of pediatrics at Mercer University School of Medicine, Savannah, Ga.; and
  • Effects of Early Nutritional Interventions on the Development of Atopic Disease in Infants and Children (allergy and immunology), with John Kelso, M.D., FAAAI, FAAP, clinical professor of pediatrics at University of California San Diego School of Medicine and the Division of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology at Scripps Clinic, San Diego.

  • Emergency medicine/critical care/injuries and poisoning, with Martha Wright, M.D., FAAP, professor of pediatrics, Case Western Reserve University, University Hospital Case Medical Center, Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital, Cleveland;
  • General pediatrics, with Keith J. Mann, M.D., FAAP, associate professor of pediatrics at University of Missouri at Kansas City School of Medicine and Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.;
  • Infectious diseases, with Evan Anderson, M.D., assistant professor of medicine and pediatrics at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine, Chicago, and Judith Guzman-Cottrill, D.O., assistant professor of pediatrics at Oregon Health and Science University, Portland, Ore.; and
  • Respiratory disorders, with Craig Schramm, M.D., FAAP, associate professor of pediatrics at the University of Connecticut Health Center and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Hartford.

The course offers a maximum of 37.25 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
