Academy helping to revise standard birth, death certificates

Standard birth, death and fetal death certificates are undergoing review by federally appointed experts, including an AAP representative. Recommended content and format revisions will be implemented by states on Jan. 1, 2002.

The review is being conducted at the request of the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), a branch of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
