Even very low-level lead exposure causes central nervous system dysfunction in children through young adulthood, a study published in the Jan. 11 New England Journal of Medicine shows. Researchers Herbert Needleman, M.D., and colleagues at the University of Pittsburgh, Boston University and Harvard Medical School followed 132 lead-exposed children for more than 11 years.
