In Memoriam

Henry Silver, M.D., FAAP, of Denver, died on January 13. Dr. Silver was 72. Dr. Silver created the Child Health Associate Program at the University of Colorado's Health Sciences Center in 1969. His program helped fill a national shortage of medical personnel by training students to become pediatric assistants and licensing them to conduct physical examinations, diagnose patients and prescribe certain medications. In 1974 he won the Martha May Eliot Award from the American Public Health Association for his leadership in promoting maternal and child health.
